The Territory
In the heart of Sicily,
the excellence of I.G.P.
Between the hills and the sea, in the fertile lands of Agrigento and Caltanissetta, a table grape is grown that represents the excellence of Sicilian viticulture. Societa' Cooperativa Agricola Op Italia cultivates grapes on approximately 250 hectares of land within the Uva Italia I.G.P. Canicattì Production District, an area with a strong winemaking tradition, where the climate and soil give the product unique organoleptic characteristics.
The I.G.P. production regulations
Canicattì I.G.P. Uva Italia has received European recognition for its quality, sweetness, and intense aroma, making it a unique product in the fruit and vegetable sector. This certification guarantees the origin and assures consumers that the grapes are cultivated according to strict standards, respecting both tradition and the environment.
For Societa' Cooperativa Agricola Op Italia, integrated production is not just an agricultural method but a true philosophy. We invest in sustainable practices, aware that quality and the trust of our customers are worth more than any compromise. This is why we have adhered to the voluntary Global G.A.P. certification, which affirms our commitment to responsible and safe agriculture.
The principles of our integrated production
We adopt advanced agricultural practices to minimise environmental impact and ensure healthier, more sustainable grapes:
- Reduction of chemical treatments through the use of mating disruption techniques, which naturally limit pest proliferation.
- Use of selective, low-impact products to protect biodiversity.
- Balanced fertilisation and water conservation using sub-irrigation, ensuring responsible water consumption.
- Selection of resistant grape varieties, less prone to disease, reducing the need for plant protection products.
- Use of non-toxic plant protection products that are safe for humans and beneficial insects, preserving the ecosystem.
- Crop rotation to maintain soil fertility and prevent plant diseases.
- Use of renewable energy sources for increasingly sustainable agriculture.
Thanks to these choices, we guarantee a genuine, safe, and environmentally friendly grape, bringing to the table a product that represents the best of our territory.
